Ross + Jul

When I was headed to shoot Ross and Jul’s vineyard wedding in May, my mom asked me who I was photographing. I told her, “Jul Sifers…you know, Jenn’s sister, Jaime’s sister…” Not that Jul doesn’t have her own identity beyond being a sister, but that’s the title she was first introduced to me as. From playing hockey to growing up in Connecticut, Jul and I have several overlapping friends, and I’m so grateful to now call her my friend. She’s down to earth, funny, caring, and truly authentic. And, she found the best person to compliment how amazing she is: Ross. When she texted over a year ago to say she and Ross were engaged and asked if I would take their photos, I had no hesitation.

This wedding did not disappoint. From the gorgeous venue to the amazing crew of people to the incredible dance party, I totally forgot that I had been on my feet for eleven hours and was completely lost in capturing their special moments. Here are a few highlights:

Some people ask, “do you like photographing people you know?” The answer is a definite yes. I love it. I think you need to feel comfortable with your photographer in order to feel comfortable in front of the lens. And, when I shoot friend’s weddings, I sometimes get the guests to work free of charge…
