Summer Wedding at Vermont’s Swiss and Bloom Farm in Enosburg

October 16, 2019

Kylie and Jamie’s late August wedding was Vermont summer perfection. They chose to tie the knot at Vermont’s Swiss and Bloom Farm in Enosburg, Vermont. I hadn’t shot a wedding there previously, and I was blown away the moment I stepped on the property.

Direct sunlight is my nemesis on a wedding day. Don’t get me wrong – I don’t hate the sun (well, my Irish skin might argue otherwise), but when it creates harsh shadows across people’s faces, it’s not my favorite. As I scouted the grounds for potential portrait locations, I couldn’t believe all of the possibilities. Literally everywhere I turned was photo-worthy. Not only that, but they had a white barn! Why is that notable?! Because it serves as a massive reflector and makes everyone look good in photos. From the gorgeous views off of the deck to the adorable farm house with gorgeous getting ready spots, it was a photographer’s dream.

Check out this highlight reel from Kylie + Jamie’s wedding day!

Gorgeous natural light plus a tidy bedroom equal the ideal space to put on the dress. Kylie’s looked effortlessly beautiful all day long!
I miiiight have obsessed over this new white bathroom. Rarely am I ever telling brides to go into the bathroom for shots like these, but I couldn’t resist!
We dodged the direct sunlight by doing the first look against the barn’s white wall
There was antique furniture scattered through the property, which was super helpful for posing a large wedding party.

BEHIND THE LENS

MEET ELLEN

I grew up in Vermont and now call Boston home, but I'll always feel most like myself outdoors.

Whether I'm hiking, skiing, spending a long weekend along the shores of Lake Champlain, or returning to Maine with my family each summer, those are the places where I recharge.
Before becoming a full-time photographer, I spent years teaching middle school. Looking back, I think that's where I learned the skill that matters most in this work: helping people feel comfortable enough to simply be themselves.

When I'm not photographing weddings, you'll find me planning my next trip to France, getting lost in a good book, cheering on the Boston Bruins, spending time with my family, or wishing I were finally in the right season of life to bring home a dog.
