Family Session | Freeport, Maine

With so many weddings postponed to 2021, I have more time this summer than ever before to meet up with families and snap some photos in this weird season of life. One of my favorite sessions to-date was hanging out with the Palmisanos up in Maine. Seeing old college friends, chatting about dinosaurs with 3-year-old Cooper, and laughing at their Berner, Gus, eating all the grass in sight pretty much summed up our time together. Katherine + Alex fully recognized that two little boys and a dog can be active and unpredictable, and they just let the boys be boys. As a result, we were able to create some images that capture Cooper and Owen’s personalities.

I absolutely love it when families tell me “that was so much fun” after a session. Family photos shouldn’t be stressful (I totally get the whole selecting-coordinating-outfits can feel a bit stressful). I believe photographs should capture the emotion of those moments, the intimate memories being made, the happiness and fun being shared, so that, months and years later, when you look back at the images, you are transported back to that place in that moment, because that is really what photos are meant to do. And I believe when photos do that, there is truly nothing better.
