A Middlebury College Engagement Session: Shannon & Starrett

There’s something extra special about photographing fellow Middlebury alums—especially when it brings us back to campus. Shannon and Starrett’s engagement session took place just a few days before their wedding, and it felt like the perfect blend of nostalgia, celebration, and anticipation.

Starrett and I are both Midd grads, so being back at Middlebury was a bit of a homecoming. We wandered through some of our favorite corners of campus, with Shannon and Starrett fully leaning into the moment—laughing, reminiscing, and soaking in the quiet magic of that pre-wedding week.

Midway through the session, the skies opened up and it started to rain—but instead of running for cover, Shannon and Starrett just embraced it. They stayed playful, joyful, and completely in the moment. Some of my favorite shots are from in front of Mead Chapel, where the colorful flags from Reunion Weekend were still hanging—a perfect pop of color against the classic Vermont gray sky.

After we wrapped, we did what any good Midd alum would do: grabbed a post-session pizza at American Flatbread. The perfect end to a meaningful evening.

I’m so grateful that my job connects me with fellow Middkids in such joyful, personal moments. Here are a few favorites from their session!
