After years of summers spent on Drake’s Island, Maine became a place Maggie couldn’t wait to share with Sam and, eventually, the perfect place to gather their favorite people for their wedding weekend.
The weekend began with a Friday night lobster bake, where all 88 guests gathered around one long table, exactly as Maggie had envisioned. Wells Reserve at Laudholm, with its sprawling fields, historic barn, and outbuildings, gave the celebration an easy, rustic backdrop. After the ceremony, we hopped on a golf cart and traded the fields of Laudholm for nearby Drake’s Island beach, bringing a little of the Maine coastline that meant so much to Maggie and Sam into their portraits. A country band brought in from Nashville set the tone for the weekend, with live music on Friday carrying straight through to a packed dance floor and plenty of singalongs on Saturday night.

We were so lucky to have Ellen capture both our proposal and our wedding day. From the very beginning, she preserved all the elements that made our proposal so memorable—the surprise, the joy, and the beauty of the environment around us. Ellen has such a warm, gentle energy while also bringing a sense of confidence, control, and professionalism that made us feel completely at ease. Her fun, lighthearted, and joyful personality completely calmed my nerves as a bride, and she somehow made every moment in front of the camera feel natural. We always felt confident in the work she would deliver, but what we didn’t fully appreciate beforehand was how much her presence would enhance the entire weekend—not only for us, but for our guests as well. She was truly such a special part of our wedding, and we couldn’t recommend her more highly.
