Alexandra + Tom asked if I was willing to photograph their engagement session on a sailboat off of the coast of Portland, Maine (one of my favorite cities), and I jumped at the opportunity. It was such a nice change from the “typical” engagement session. They planned the perfect evening that captured classic New England charm and channeled their enjoyment for adventure as a couple. MEET ELLEN
I grew up in Vermont and now call Boston home, but I'll always feel most like myself outdoors.
Whether I'm hiking, skiing, spending a long weekend along the shores of Lake Champlain, or returning to Maine with my family each summer, those are the places where I recharge. Before becoming a full-time photographer, I spent years teaching middle school. Looking back, I think that's where I learned the skill that matters most in this work: helping people feel comfortable enough to simply be themselves.
When I'm not photographing weddings, you'll find me planning my next trip to France, getting lost in a good book, cheering on the Boston Bruins, spending time with my family, or wishing I were finally in the right season of life to bring home a dog.
