Emma + John’s fall Basin Harbor wedding weekend last October in Vergennes, Vermon. It was timeless, authentic, and truly fun from start to finish.

This wedding was an especially meaningful one for me. As the photographer behind Ellen Sargent Photography and a New England wedding photographer, I had the honor of photographing Emma’s sister’s wedding a couple of years ago, so when Emma reached out to see if I was available for hers, I was ecstatic. Their family reminds me so much of my own, and I’ve always loved how fun, warm, and genuinely funny their whole crew is.

Wedding Day Photos at Basin Harbor

Emma and John cared most about enjoying their day, spending as much time with their friends and family as possible, and enjoying the moment. With a short shot list and a trust in their vendor team, they lived what I always tell prospective clients: the photos should be about the wedding day; the wedding day should not be about the photos.

Cocktail Hour on the Lodge Lawn

Following the ceremony, guests gathered on the Lodge Lawn for cocktails. The lawn adjoins Ardelia’s, creating an easy flow between the outdoor cocktail hour and the indoor reception space.

With views overlooking the harbor and Lake Champlain, Basin Harbor offered a beautiful backdrop for an autumn wedding day and plenty of scenic photo opportunities for the couple and their guests.

This gorgeous, modernized space is located in the main building. If you are looking to use Ardelia’s for your wedding at Basin Harbor, it really has it all! The full space includes the Main Dining Room, Terrace Room, and Garden Room, giving couples several connected areas to use throughout their celebration.

Insider tip: Ardelia’s is designed for wedding receptions as well as rehearsal and welcome events. So if you choose another one of their gorgeous spaces for your reception you can use these rooms for other wedding related events.
