February 2, 2020
As I look back on 2020, it’s hard to believe how my wedding season started. I helped photograph four micro weddings on a Sunday morning before the term “micro wedding” even became a thing. At the time, no one involved – couples or vendors – had a clue that we were ahead of the times, and intimate wedding ceremonies would become the main event of the 2020 wedding season.
At the end of 2019, my photo bff, Janelle, asked if I wanted to second shoot for her on February 2nd. I usually say yes to Janelle with very few details but quickly learned this gig was not our norm. The Boston Public Library was giving away four micro-weddings in honor of the McKim Building’s 125th anniversary. Four lucky couples received free weddings with one catch: they could only have 10 guests at their wedding. Were they foreshadowing what the 2020 wedding season would end up looking like?! Maybe!
Here’s a handful of shots I took as Janelle’s second shooter.
